My Christmas...

I love Britain. If there's one thing a year abroad will do for you, it makes you at least twice as patriotic as you were when you left. Spending three lovely weeks at home just affirmed this for me.

I have now been back in Córdoba for five days but thought that, as the next few weeks will see me desperately trying to figure out what to revise for my exams (they really are far too casual here and neglect to tell us what the exams consist of), I should write a little about my holidays for those of you who are interested.

I left Córdoba with its rather fake looking Christmas trees...

...and slightly better department store decorations and flew home on December 17th to be greeted by my dear Ma and Pa, a full bottle of Baileys in the fridge, and a glorious roaring fire. Exactly what Christmas is all about.

Unfortunately somewhere along the way (I like to blame Spain) I managed to pick up a ghastly cold; although this did mean I got to lie out on the sofa in front of the aforementioned fire and watch plenty of the good ol' BBC Christmas telly. Sneezing and coughing aside, it was just marvellous to be back in the chilly British Isles, able to visit friends, drink normal tea and not panicking about whether you're using the right word for banana when you're talking to a bemused looking shop assistant.

I was lucky enough to visit London twice in the holidays, the first time for a much-needed Christmassy day out. I have to say, I was rather more impressed with London's decorations.

I also discovered my secret Torvill and Dean gene which was brought to life at the Natural History Museum's ice rink.

I very much enjoyed playing mummy - whizzing around the rink with a friend clinging on for dear life, before returning them to the wall and swapping with a new friend ready to skate off into the crowds.

My second trip to London was post-Christmas, although this didn't mean the crowds were any less zealous - in fact with the sales in full swing, it was much more like an assault course than a simple stroll through London town.

My honorary big sis and I were off to see Viva Forever! - the new Spice Girls musical to enjoy a flashback to our childhood "girl power" years. As a wonderful Christmas present from big sis, we attempted to put on our posh faces and went for Afternoon tea in a pretty swanky looking hotel. Oh golly gosh, simply my favourite activity involving tea and cake. It was another perfect day.

Yum.

With my cold cleared up I was happy spending my last week at home with friends and family before we all headed off our separate ways. Sitting on a certain kitchen floor, wetting ourselves about drama lessons where we spent more time shouting "MILK" than we did acting was a particular highlight.

I saw the New Year in with Ma and Pa and one of our dearest family friends in the beautiful location of Highcliffe in Dorset. Topped up on food and champagne is exactly how you should see in a new year so it was rather lovely. Especially as we shared it with these two gorgeous doggies:

Just look at those tails going.

Happy 2013!
